Underworld for the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony

Working in collaboration with Artistic Director of the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony Danny Boyle, Underworld’s soundtracking of the ‘Isles of Wonder’ opening ceremony show.

Mute Song is extremely proud and happy to extend congratulations to Rick Smith and Karl Hyde of Underworld for their work composing and directing the music for the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

Working in collaboration with Artistic Director of the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony Danny Boyle, Underworld’s soundtracking of the ‘Isles of Wonder’ opening ceremony show added emotional punch and strength to proceedings and helped make the nearly four-hour stage production peerless.

The show featured two brand new compositions from Underworld as well as a number of previously written works which provided a number of the most stirring moments of the night.

Underworld had previously worked with filmmaker Boyle on film soundtracks such as ‘Trainspotting’, ‘The Beach’ and ‘Sunshine’, and most recently on the Olivier-nominated music for ‘Frankenstein’ at the National Theatre.
