Jailhouse Harmonica CSV002 WARNER CHAPPELL PM    CRIME SONICS

Jailhouse Harmonica

In Texas, death row inmates on average have a 180-month or roughly 15-year waiting period between sentencing and execution. That sure is a long time to reflect on your mistakes. When crafting the 10 bluesy tracks of Jailhouse Harmonica, composer Sam Friedman tried drawing from the harmonicas deep tradition of acting as an emotional and spiritual vent for loss, longing and regret.

  • 19. DEAD MAN WALKING 00:01:56 SIMPLY PUT, THIS TRACK IS JAILHOUSE HARMONICA PERFECTION! I'VE BEEN SITTING HERE ON THE MILE FOR SO MANY YEARS I'VE LOST TRACK. IT SEEMS IN HERE, THE CLOCK SPINS MORE THAN TWICE A DAY. I COULD SWEAR BY IT, I COULD. TOMORROW IS A BIG DAY IN THE BIG HOUSE. I'LL BE CUFFED, LET OUT OF MY CELL, LED DOWN THE HALL AND THAT'S WHEN I'LL SEE HER AGAIN. OLD SPARKY I SAW HER ONCE YEARS AGO, WHEN THEY BROUGHT ME IN HERE. IT ALMOST TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. YA KNOW, THINKING ABOUT OUR FIRST FORMAL INTRODUCTION IN A FEW YEARS. NOW, SOME MAY SAY THAT OLD WORN OUT PIECE OF OAK IS A MALE. A STERN FATHER FIGURE SORT, SWIFT WITH DISCIPLINE AND READY TO LEARN YA WITH THE SNAP OF A SWITCH. A SWITCH YOU PICKED OUT YOURSELF, I MIGHT ADD. ANYWAY, WHEN I LAID EYES ON IT, SHE LOOK LIKE EVERY WOMAN I EVER WRONGED, FASHIONED TOGETHER LIKE A THRONE OF REVENGEFUL JUSTICE. I'D SAY COLDER THAN A WITCHES TIT, BUT WHEN THEY HIT THAT SWITCH, MY SITUATION GONNA HEAT UP REAL QUICK. I GUESS IT IS TRUE WHAT THEY SAY, HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED.
